Personalisation as contribution-focused social work practice

As a key driving force in adult social care policy both the United Kingdom and internationally personalisation has wide-ranging implications for work profession. Yet its meaning can be elusive is often contested. This article explores findings from doctoral study which sought to explore current meanings associated with notion of personalisation, by asking those lived experience how it experienced them. Unique features study’s participatory psychosocial research design, placed at centre, are outlined. Original explored this paper include range themes related dependence, independence interdependence, depersonalisation reciprocity. Risks contemporary practice models work, including strengths-based approaches explored. Based on reorientation towards ‘contribution-focused practice’ within relationship-based model proposed.
